About the district Vorpommern-Rügen

With 3.207 square kilometers, Vorpommern-Rügen is the fifth-largest district in the Federal Republic of Germany. 225.000 inhabitants live here contentedly. Its high quality of life is predominantly determined by an increasingly attractive labor market, a high standard of housing and leisure activities and a pronounced family friendliness.

The island of Rügen with its famous chalk cliffs and the peninsula of Fischland-Darß-Zingst with its endless sand beaches form part of the Vorpommern-Rügen district. Furthermore, the UNESCO World Heritage and Hanse Town of Stralsund is as inviting as the foreshore with its idyllic castles, villages and small towns.
